I've found a Redback 2.5" exhaust system for 330 for the 3.0L TE, is it a good deal? Isnt the stock one already 2.5" anyway? how much do i expect to get it installed? what kind of gain will i get? Is redback worth getting? or should i go with another brand? also, what happens with my insurance (i am with AAMI)? thx!

Do a search.. Its been covered a few times.

And use your 'telephone' to ring AAMI and ask them..

Hmm... $330 huh! Sounds like the one going on eBay! :-) Not so sure I would be buying something on ebay and then getting it fitted elsewhere.

Perhaps I'm just cynical but if something screwed up I would be afraid of the exhaust shop trying to blame the components.

If you get the lot done at the same place at least if anything goes wrong it is completely their responsibility!

I suppose in this instance there's probably not a lot that could go wrong but there is always a slight possibility! :-(

if you are referring to onauto.com.au or onlineperformance on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50140&item=2488456166

then I can assure you that they are good people to get stuff from, I've got this exact system, however I didn't buy of onautos, i bought it off someone from AussieMagna for 300 and did the job my self, was a pretty easy job, took maybe 2hrs. it was a noticable difference for me.

the shop i got from HyperTF is: 45-147 Main street Lilydale ph: 9739 5000.

i am under 25, paying 3rd party with aami, about 470 a year with fire anf theft, but i don't understand why my friend is only paying 3ish for his EG Si Civic with AAMI, shouldnt Civic be a higher risk model? since ppl mod and race it all the time and it is also the Si model, using CRX engine.... arh... the world is not fair..........

Until you accidently write it off mate (not that I wish it upon anyone). Its a risk worth taking if you can afford it!

I totally agree, it is a risk, but a calculated risk.

The thing is, I'm not at the stage where I can justify full comprehensive. If I write off the car, then that's just bad luck, I' would have to down grade to a 1st gen again, LOL... otherwise the money I save each year I can use for Mods, hehe... besides, 3rd Gen is cheap now days.

Don't worry about insurance. Just don't tell them. All you have to do if anyone asks you questions from the insurance company is say your old exhaust was stuffed (holes in it) and the exhaust shop recommended this as a cheap bolt on replacement. You say you never bought it as a performance system but rather a non-genuine replacement part, and, considering the stock part is so dame close to 2.5inch they can't argue with you

i am just worried that if one day i run into a Ferrari, the insurance company will void my claim cos of the exhaust, u know that they can go to any extent just to void the claim........

I agree with gremlin. The redback is louder than stock, but it is a BOLT ON replacement of 'similar' dimensions etc.

It will come under the 'aftermarket part' category. If you go to town and install a cannon or the like then you will find it will become a problem.

If you can, get the exhaust shop to write up the invoice with no mention of the word 'Performance', and you will have no problems at all!! :)
