G'Day,

I Have fiddled around with my HU settings and I have worked out what most of them do, but i was wondering if there was anything anybody could recommend for me to get better SQ.

I have:
Pioneer DEH-6350 Head Unit
2 12" Rockford Fosgate Punch HE Subs
running off 800w Rockford fosgate 2 chan amp
2 Jenson 6" speakers
running off Sony explod amp
no 6x9z

MY settings on the HU are:
Sub - 125hz, +3
HPF - 125hz
EQ Low - +3
EQ Mid - +2
EQ High - +3
Loud is on HIGH
Bass 160 -6
Treble 10K +6

I listen to music like prodigy, eminem & a bit of everythin really.

Also my ariel doesnt go all the way down, the bottom pipe is jammed and doesnt move at all... is this comon and what could i try to fix it?

Thanks HEAPS for reading all that, appreciate any help too :D

i have a pioneer deck too
these are the settings i am using

Sub - 50hz -1 in your case i would try 80hz -1 or +0
HPF - 50hz i would try 80hz so u dont have a freq gap between speakers and sub
EQ Low mines +1 try the same for these... it is better to use them to cut freq then to boost freqs although i'm actually slightly boosting too
Mid +1
High +0

turn loud off
Bass 120 +2
Treble 4k +0 or 6.3k + 0

when the deck is running and not in a menu... you can hold down audio button for 2 secs and u get into another menue which lets u adjust the q curves of the crossovers i think it is.. u have options to make them wide or narrow

i would try 80 2N or 1N
2k 1W or 2W
and 8k at 1W or 1N

then u gott atune the amps well too =]
set the gain to the output voltager of the deck
and bass boost isnt really that necessary... if u use bass boost u have to reduce the gain

Try some WD40 on the antenna, that stuff fixes anything...mostly

FYI the antenna mast should never be lubricated with anything which includes WD40, grease, graphite powder etc. If the bottom section of the mast is jammed it's likely the rope inside that's broken.

Dude you should set your sub and HPF on 80Hz and not 125Hz. Also you should add more bass for the fronts and have it on 100 instead of 160Hz. The pioneers can be difficult to tune.

not a problem...

the menu for the curves section
my understanding of this is u can control how wide or narrow the frequency band is at that point...
or how slow/fast it will roll off...

this is an example from my interrepretations of it
so having a 2w (2 wide) say at 80 hz if its 30db at 78hz it might be 29db and 76 hz will be 28db

if u went 2N (2 narrow) at 80hz it would be 30db but at 78hz it could be 28db and 76 hz 26-27 db

this woulld then mean that a narrower band would produce a more punchier bass or the illusion of a punchier bass....
i have mine on 2N becuase on 2W it drones too much.... 15" sub in a small hatchback :D

what i've just said above might be totally wrong but thats my understanding of it =]

rockford HEs .... id run them on LPF at 50Hz ....
might not get quite as much oomph out of them, but it will damned well sound better !
