Problems have arrived with my magna!!
I have a 2004 Mitsubishi Magna TW VRX series 2 with a 5 speed manual
and people who have been sitting in the front passenger seat have been hearing little clicking noises when I turn to the left and they say its a CV joint/boot
I am a little shocked because my car only has 76,8XXkms on the clock and I thought they only fail like 150,000kms+
Do you think its the CV joints or just the suspension movement??
..GONE..

Depending on how you drive etc.
CVs can go anywhere from 30-40k onwards.. Even then, depending how you drive, they can go earlier or later..
They're not overly expensive, straight forward replacement!

New shafts will cost you from $95 for cheap and nasty ones to $250 for good hardy spicer ones up to $600 for genuine
I do have here in stock some brand new genuine shafts here for $225 ea, these are brand new genuine and LHS only unfortunately (drivers side you would need something else if you need one)
First I would get it checked out however to determine is the shaft and not something else

CAR: click . . . . click . . . . click.
ME: oops! Sounds like CV joint.
Looks at wheel. Stone caught in tyre tread.
Removes stone.
No clicks.
Moral: have a good look at more obvious things.
CV joints make the most noise at low speed and on load, find empty car park, crank it on full lock and use some low speed throttle to do some left and right circles. Or find a road with some low speed uphill corners. Very obvious when CV joints wear out.
Usually CV joints go for a long time, but it depends on your driving style. Generally the boot perishes, cracks/splits, grease leaks out and dirt gets in, then the CV joint wears and gets noisy. Have a look to see if any boots are split.

Thanks for the info, I will probably get the mechanic to look at it at the next service in 2 months time. I only drive it on the weekends so it wont do any harm leaving it for a while

If it is a repeating clicking noise then cv joints if it is just one click then something else like shock mounts. CV joints will last until the boots get torn and dust gets in, otherwise they should last a very long time perhaps the life of the car. Mine has 175000 kms and is still on the original cv's, boots have always been replaced before getting torn.

If you do your own oil changes, that's a good time to check the 4 drive shaft and 2 steering rack boots. If a mechanic does this, ask him to check the boots.

yes when the boots show small cracks they should be replaced

I wait until the boot actually splits, usually in the valley of the boot folds. Need to move them about with a finger to spot the splits, but often sprayed grease on the underbody is a real giveaway.
