I start the engine but the engine cuts out once I let the key spring back to"ACC", this is not a simple idle issue the engine is cut. We replaced the barrel as it was broken into. This is when this problem started.

Hmm. These have immobolisers. Not sure how they work. Might have to ask MadMagna (aka Mal) about how to fix it.

Immobiliser setup on a 1995 Magna is unique to that year and a primitive setup to say the least, but if you are lucky yours may not have it.

If it has the immobiliser I'm thinking of, just pulling the ignition lock out activates it destructively to stop car thieves who pull the ignition lock out with a dent puller and then start the cart with a screwdriver, and parts are not available - anyhow, have a search as I posted a "how to fix" years ago.

At the end of the key barrel is the ignition switch - round, flat, with wires connected to it - if it has another white round flat thing with 4 more thinner wires on it, you have the immobiliser.

If you don't have the immobiliser, it may just be that the ignition switch is worn out.
