hi everyone, when I listen to my radio in my TJ magna, the radio reception seems to go in and out,
the reception will be great and then it will fade out and then it will fade back in again,
I have a pioneer head unit in my car and I tested it with another aerial and it was fine, I've got the aerial all the way up and it does't seem to make any difference

any ideas on what it could be?:(

The Pioneer radios I have can be switched for sensitivity, for local (low sensitivity) or distance (high sensitivity), have a look at the manual. Could be that simple. Look online for the manual if you don't have a printed copy.

If its not sensitivty, there are a couple of cables the ground the aerial to the chassis, pull back the carpet and have a good look. Unscrew it all and unbolt it and rebolt it to create a cleaner ground. It's possible a cable there is loose and just needs refitting. Real simple job. 2 Screws and 2 Bolts to get the panel off, and 1 bolt with the aerial and if you want to take it off, the silver plastic cap (outside) screws off anti-clockwise.

I had to replace mine a few months back after I forgot to lower it prior to going into a car wash :)

If the plastic is tight, I would get some WD40 in there and really give the surround a good soaking (just wipe it off the paint) for about 30mins to an hour as they are really hard to get off on the older ones.

Check under your rear seat for the antenna cable found mine had been rubbed in half by the back seat so it would get reception when the two parts touched or not at all
