View Full Version : Crazy whistling noise from intake when accelerating hard
While it sounds absolutely epic like it's got a turbo, but worried that this could be a bit of an issue. I've had a few magnas and this is the first time I've had such an issue but when ever I put my foot down, the intake starts whistling as air gets sucked in. This is the only 3.0L that I've driven that does this.
Should I be worried? It does seem to be alittle weak on the power side.

Air leak somewhere.
Damn I thought so, this might explain the power loss too (too much air?)

If the air leak is after the MAF it will be running lean. Check all the joints in the big rubber ducting, especially the tube that runs off it just before the throttle body. Also look at the resonators, they can split and let air in.
Cheers mad, will take a look tomorrow (hopefully if the rain settles down)
I'm having trouble trying to find this as it only occurs when the car is in motion, doesn't whistle when reving it.

Quiet garage, light a cigar and move it around the intake area. See where the smoke gets sucked in and there's your vacuum leak :D
Quit smoking? No way I would have the patience to work on these damn machines without.

Feel for you Rade! Quit a few months back myself. If you aren't inhaling it... Can't be forbidden!
It is a bitch without dreggz!
