I purchased a new remote for my daughters 1998 Magna.
Performed the steps to programme it.
The doors lock and unlock, however the boot does not lock or unlock using either the rempte or the button located in the glove box.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is the boot closed properly?
Did the boot open with the glovebox button prior to programming the remotes?
Its possible that the actuator may be stuffed..

Hi ammerty,
All worked prior to new remote. Will check boot this afternoon to ensure properly closed.
Remote is RMC09 304mhz T5 Chip. Exactly the same as OEM.
Thank you for the quick response.

sometimes the boot can be a real pain in the ar5se with the remote try holding it for a little longer but if it doesnt open with the boot realise then it could well be the actuator as captain vimes said possibly even something simple like a fuse blown as well

Have you checked on the latch that the lock/unlock latch hasn't been accidently flicked to lock.

The electric motor that works the boot hangs off the bottom of the aerial behind the boot left cover. You should be able to hear it working and see the cable move if you open the boot and stick your head in, then operate the remote or someone pushes the glovebox button. Motor or cable (or fuse) may be the problem. If it all works as it should, check the latch.

My red/green you have to press the boot release twice and hold it on the 2nd. It won't send the signal on the first press - it's to prevent you opening it by mistake instead of the doors.

Yes, two presses needed. BUT I think holding it down sets off the alarm.

No, you press and hold the red and green together to set off the panic alarm

On my TL wagon, the green button has no function other than setting off the panic alarm. Donno about other models.

EDIT: just tried the TJ sedan, green sets off alarm. Now I know the horn works. lol

Thank you for all the responses.
The problem has been solved (i think).
It would seem that my daughter had some one change her aerial just after replacement of the remote.
A motor attached to the aerial was deemed useless and thrown away!.
After a few words of utter joy, I am now looking for a boot release motor.
Will try madmagna, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yep, good way of doing mechanical work on a car. If you don't understand what something is for, take it off and throw it away!
Don't let this clown anywhere near the brakes!

Wreckers, pick up another aerial with motor perhaps? You will need the cable too.
Motor works the fuel door too, on some models. That's why it's sitting where it is.

The words of joy addressed that matter in no uncertain way. Unfortunately now I am the mechanic.
I have sourced a motor and cables, but cannot (so far) find the relevant page in the Haynes Manual.
I have posted a request by mistake in the DB section ( I own a 2007 DB Series III ES).
I would appreciate suggestions, diagrams, links or directions on placement of motor without OEM aerial. Is it possible?
Living in small rural community makes sourcing parts difficult.

See my answer in the 380 section. Probably not a good idea to start multiple threads on the same problem.

Probably easier to contact your supplier and specify you want the mounting brackets, an intact aerial and all the bolts as well, and go back to stock.

(Or just let her live with the problem. As long as the key works, who should worry? lol)
