I recently bought a th magna wagon as my first car a month ago and have had the engine blew up on me. :( I am about to buy a tf magna wagon and would like to know what parts are our aren't compatible to be put on it. Especially the exhaust and brakes as they are brand new to pass roadworthy on my th.

Most parts will fit as long as its a wagon too. How much you spending roughly. If you have the money I would recommend a 380 motor conversion. That also depends how long you intend to keep the car.

Im spending 1200 to buy the car and then whatever the roadworthy is. Definitely cannot afford to do that. After my first car blowing up a month after purchase (from a mitsubishi dealer none the less) without insurance I have very little money spare.

Mate, you could replace the engine in the th for less then that. Would be a much better option

How do you figure it would be cheaper. Plus I need a car right away for work.

The 3.5's are cheapish, the problem is mechanics as soon as they see FWD charge double or more to install it.

Engine for $450, install at about $400.

Give mitsfix a call mate, so much cheaper doing it that way. But if you need a car right now for work then fair enough. You'll just be down grading your car and loosing money

To be honest. The th was a piece of shit. Cracked rear bumper. Mangled front bumper. Dinged rear drivers side door. Air con is stuffed and rattles really badly and is too noisy to be bare able. Paint scratched. Absolute bottom of the line executive. So on and so forth. Where as the tf is only a year older. 140000 less kms. Its the advance model so I get things like cruise control. Car is absolutely immaculate. No dings. Or scratches. And aircon and heater work great.

Both cars have the 3.0l v6 engine. Also if you factor in the fact I live 150ks from Melbourne. To get the engine her is going to cost an arm and a leg. Plus this way I see it as I can use the tf as my daily driver and work on the th.

Back to my original question. Specifically does anyone know exactly what parts inside and out arent compatible between the models? Cheers.

Pretty much everything man. If your getting the advance I think it should have power windows? Almost anything that you can pull off is. Being the same engine, that should all swap over to

Thanks mate.
No power windows unfortunately. Just means I have a project to do when I save some $$$

Mots parts are compatable, there is no way someone can come up with a list of specific parts unless they are very bored and have hours of time on hand

Perhaps is better if you list what you are thinking of changing over and we can tell you if these bits will work or not?

Oh and Advance never had power windows in the TF series

Mainly things like brakes and exhaust depending on the roadworthy. Tyres. And interior. Thanks guys.

dont buy the car if the owner is too lazy to get is checked for a roadie worthy, buy 1 with it and plenty off rego so ya wont be stuffed around paying for it later on.

You could always just replace the engine, is there anything physically wrong with the car?

"I think it should have power windows? "

We had a 1998 TF Advance and it had manual windows. That was actually my choice - I did not want power windows. I still don't want power windows, but everything you buy these days has them. The reason I didn't want them was if they went wrong, and in any event, we rarely raise or lower the windows anyway - power or manual. I must admit that the power windows are nicer - just until they go wrong.

Thank you everyone for the answers. I put a deposit on the tf today and will have it monday evening. Will upload comparison pics between the 2 if anyone would like to see.

Rade. I have previously answered why putting a new engine in the th would be impractical for me. I feel it would be best to use the th as spares and try and part it out/sell it as is. And look to upgrade cars when I can find a steady full time job and earn more cash then present.
