Hi everyone,
How is the general reliability of the Mitsubishi factory sunroofs?
Do they leak, break, make noise or have any problems in general?

I have never seen one fail.

Mine makes a few squeaking noises as I drive over bumps, as the plastic panels rub on eachother.

Really good in my 97 Verada. Still no rattles/squeks/leaks or anything! The only thing to look out for is the wind guard that pops up when you open the sunroof... the clips on the side can tend to get brittle and break. Although this is not a major issue. If the clip/s are broken it can be easily fixed, otherwise you just need to remember to pull the shield down with your hand while closing the sunroof.

Blazin, I recon yours is aftermarket mate check where it is cut through the roof skin, most likely has a black strip around the edge of the roof
Factory ones are generally trouble free

I'm fairly sure it is factory. It has the Mitsubishi markings on the glass if that is anything to go by.

Nah, blazin's roof was simply unused before he bought it if I remember, so the springs that make the shield go up didn't work properly.
In any case, do not armour all the rubber, use silicone grease on a rag around the rolled metal (very light coating) and use silicone grease in the hinges And it should all be fine. The silicone grease will prevent chatter of the roof when tilting and also, prevent any noises if you are driving over really rough stuff (it has to be severe)
I've had a leak, but that was because of the armour all so I never had one since.
Service the roof every couple of years and it will be silent as well.

Also, as with all sunroofs there are water drainage holes on the inner frame, tubes run from the holes to under the car & onto the road, you need to make sure those holes dont get blocked with leaves etc or the inner 'tray' will fill up & spill over into the interior, very very rarely that happens but still worth a quick inspection every now n then.
Had my aftermarket sunroof for more than a year & its been perfect.
