Hi Guys,
Does anyone know if the input and output shaft sensors from a 4 speed gearbox are the same as on a 5 speed tiptronic?
I think I'll try replacing these before anything else on my gearbox
Cheers

If your trans has no drive then these are not the cause. If you have a limp mode issue then while possible is more than likely coolant on the ecu causing the issue as these sensors rarely play up

I have drive, but it is slow to change gears, and then sometimes it will go into limp mode. As soon as it goes into limp mode, I can turn the car off, and back on and it is back to normal.

Have you read the diagnostic codes? Malfunctioning input or output shaft sensor will show up in the error codes.

And will show up as errors if there is coolant on the ECU as well......

Hmmm, I'll have to have a look at the ecu. That's next on my list

I grounded pin one of the obd plug, and no error codes came up. The engine light and tcl lights started flashing. Any ideas?
Cheers

The pattern of the lights flashing has to be decoded to identify the code. From memory it will start with long flashes (the 10s in the code) and then short flashes (the 1s) - so (for example) 2 long flashes followed by 5 short flashes would be code 25. If you have both engine and TCL lights flashing decode both.

Hmmm, I thought it was the n lights that flashed that were to be decoded? The engine and TCL lights just flash contiunally

If you have codes outstanding for the auto trans, the N light will flash in the coded flash pattern.
