Any chance of finding a 6 stack head unit replacement for the 380 VRX 2005 Series 1? Mine has ceased to work. would a second hand one from similar vehicle work??

Try finding a wrecked 380 with the same stacker HU in it. Least problems that way.
Otherwise, go after market.

We have them listed on fleabay for $115 from memory, these are tested in the car prior to removal and yes we do sell quite a few of these because of disk issues

CD players, especially with stackers, don't seem to last long in cars. 10 years maximum, in my experience, even with little or no use. Then again I can wear out a CD/DVD recorder/player on a computer in 2 years, and that lives in a much friendlier environment than one in a car. Hence a few current model of HUs have come out with no CD player, relying instead on USB connectivity.

But less hassle if you get a direct replacement, price of the above second hand unit sounds good - go for that. Keeps the car looking original too.

Would be nice if the "premium" stacker could be modded to take RCAs. I am finding it difficult to locate a good honest double DIN HU that does steering control, plays wav, has 4 line level outputs, has rear USB and is less than $400. I always find what I think is the perfect unit only to discover it won't play wav or doesn't do steering or something else. I am now liking the standard unit more except the sound when pushed, quickly deteriorates necessitating an amp. The cheap speakers are fine for for my use but the power output of the unit is inadequate. An amp would greatly improve the sound.

I just sold mine literally 2 days ago on ebay for $220 including the fascia.. as i upgraded to a double din dvd! It was working in mint condition!
