View Full Version : Door cards sagging - same as roof lining issue?
Ok so I bought a set of door cards, decided to give them a good clean and got carried away with the water and the fabric is no longer a part of the card! Now I need to know what the best way to fix these cards is? Is it the same as what i've read about with roof lining that the old foam needs to be completely removed and replaced?
Also what's the best glue to use, I've read a lot of people complaining that their roofs have already sagged shortly after gluing.
Cheers.

You can clean up the area and re glue them, or you can stretch the material out the back and tape/glue it down, attaching the material to a cardboard template would help. It all depends on which fabric on what part of the trims you are referring to?
Permatex Headliner adhesive or 3m 77 (I think its the one im thinking off) are probably the better ones out there.
I ended up getting some slip proof mat which i'll use as foam backing and some selley's kwik grip so i'll show some photos and let you know how it goes.
All safeway had.

If you want to retain the cushion-ness of the door cards, ignore this. Essentially what I did was peeled off the fabric from the plastic mould, removed all traces of adhesive and the foam stuff, washed the fabric, and re-attached the fabric using spray adhesive.
How did it turn out scorcher?

Pretty well, actually. The only issue being that I actually washed the fabric in the washing machine, which in turn damaged the edges, however most of it tucked around the back of the plastic plate so looked fine.
Of course you're sacrificing the cushioning of the factory setup, but you could most certainly find double sided adhesive foam or something.

could always buy different colored soft patterd fabric and get new ply wood and cut new ones add a new color to the car, when i change my car color to white ill be making fiber glass trims
I kinda like my car to be co-ordinated :) Besides there is nothing wrong with the plastic moulding so using fiber glass and ply wood would be a waste of time for me. Anyway I have separated the fabric and got them soaking in some water to get all that glue crap off - did think about the washing machine but I thought far enough ahead that I would probably destroy the edges. I think I might lay down that rubber matting i've got and glue the fabric to that, see how it goes.
