Hi guys, I have a problem with the aircon/blower.
The 10 amp fuse for the blower keeps on blowing. It started the other day, the fan just stopped dead while driving. I replaced the fuse and it worked for another day (on all speeds) before stopping.
Since then, each new fuse I put in has blown immediately when i tried to turn on the blower switch.
The actual fan is not seized, as it turned momentarily before the fuse blew....
I hope someone may have some idea as to what the problem could be!
Thanks a lot in advance guys :-)

Have you done any wiring at all, or any other work, prior to this occurring?

No messing about with the electrics at all mate. I have the car about a year and it has been fine up to this. I dont think its the resistor because it would still run at top speed?

i notice there was overheating of the large red wire at the back of the blower fan switch..... would this suggest the problem?

Seems to me that there is a short in the fan, which would cause the fuse to blow. If you have a multimeter, check for continuity between the positive and earth side of the fan connector itself.

Set it to tone only, if you get tone between to the power and earth pin (plug disconnected) then you have the source of your problems. Failing that, also check the plug for tone as well. Again, have it disconnected and insert a probe into the pins for power and earth.
