G'day everyone
My TW is having a service tomorrow. I was on the K&N website last night looking to get a cold air intake system installed. Due to having an automatic the install is slightly more difficult from the ECU side of things with the MAF sensor. Has anyone had any problems with this install? Is there a preferred mechanic people use in SA for the magnas?
As soon as I heard it may stuff my ECU up I decided to not do it myself.
Thanks guys

The OEM intake is very good. If anything, I would just get the OEM replacement, or go the way of the Ralliart setup.

Its not going to stuff up your ecu, argument that having non oval pod close to maf causes turbulence i think is overrated, i had both installed on my setup did runs with wideband O2 and it didnt seem to affect AFR' whatsoever.

Unless you are going for forced induction forget about CAI, stock system is sufficient for road car, dont bother.

Not much gain? Really, I heard the factory intake was really restrictive and the upgrade in CAI was a major improvement. I think a couple more opinions are needed before making any changes.

The Ralliart uses the factory setup, along with alot of 6g75 converted 3rd gens. You'll also notice that the pipework on the OEM setup is as far away from the engine as possible. The snorkel, while it looks restrictive with its narrow intake, actually does a good job at sucking in the air. The Ralliart has a flexible pipe going from under the intake snorkel to where the front airdam on the front bar is.
It is quite sufficient for a road car. Also helps keep the heat off your back from the cops if it looks factory.

Sounds like a safe way to go. Would you order it through a Mitsubishi dealer or from a high performance shop.

Sorry but the Ralliart does not have an extra intake pipe. It must be someones mod.
Cheers.
