Hey I'm trying to remove the stock HU on my 2000 TJ Magna and I have gotten to the actual brackets holding the HU in place. The screws are in very right and are quite severely rounded so I am now needing help in removing the or to get a replacement bracket I can use instead. Can anyone help me?

Try a needle punch on the edge of the screws and hammer to start them off.

This happened to a car i was working on. I used a hack saw blade to create a slot in the screw and used a larger flathead to undo them

That's a wicked idea, beats mine of just using a flat head to pry it off. Though I didn't care what happened to the stock headunit :).
If you really get desperate you could probably pick up a couple more brackets from the wreckers for $10.

We just used a drill bit and drilled the screw out, a non issue as we weren't reusing the stock unit, just the brackets.

Interesting. I don't need the stock unit either, so I could just drill through it if necessary. I just need those brackets.
With the hacksaw idea, do i just make a slot along the whole diameter of the screw? Is that what you mean?
