View Full Version : Ralliart Exhaust question
Just thought I'd announce that I'm not the proud owner of Ralliart Magna #069.
Just a couple questions pertaining to he extractors and exhaust:
1. Do the Ralliart's extractors do a good job compared to aftermarket Pacemaker or HMs? Or are they flat out better?
2. Is it worth getting the old Lukey LR27xxx muffler over its stock?
3. Is a 2.5" aftermarket catback better than the ralliart stocks?

Ralliart has HM as standard
This has been discussed on several threads previously.
Your stock ralliart exhaust set up is the best performance wise for a stock ralliart magna.
Heath had point 1. covered.
2. Both the Lukey & OEM ralliart muffler are the same straight through type (in other words - no performance gain)
3. Fitting an aftermarket catback exhaust won't make one iotta of difference to the performance. It'll just sound different & even the stock cat flows well in these.
**EDIT** stock piping on ralliart magna and all TJ series 1.5 and later are already 2.5" mandrel bend from the factory.
Unless you are going to do some major engine upgrades (like turbo charging), it isn't worth spending the $$ as you will not get any real world performance gains over the factory set up which was well sorted in the first place.

If you do anything to the exhaust, make it a 200cpi cat. That's the only thing that will make any kw gains.
Changing the rear muffler or installing a catback system will change the sound, but won't add any performance increases.

And I guess changing the cat would make the car lose its stock status aye.

what do you mean?
what do you mean?
Pretty much since a 200 CPSI would have such a minimal gain, it's not quite worth taking the original cat off of my ralliart and replacing it with an aftermarket piece for what.. A 0.5 kw gain? Hahaha

Well no. A 200cpi cat will give you about 3kw or so. You're asking what you can do to your exhaust to get more power. If you want a few more kw and a bit more response then its $200 or so well spent.

Funny as most I have tested show little to no gain with a new cat, have done several on dyno's and unless your existing cat is buggered really is worth sfa as far as gain goes.
The Ralliart has an exhaust which is fine as it is, if you want to get a few more kw start perhaps with a proper tune.

Cat converters become partially clogged over time. In 10 years, one may assume that the cat is not functioning to 100% capacity.
Considering the OP is asking questions about exhaust modifications, I thought I would leave tuning and other options away from this thread so it doesn't become 15 pages long.

Always start with the exhaust if you're on a Mcdonalds wage!!!

Too true.
Replacing the cat should bring you some gains, it will also make the exhaust a tad louder if that's your thing.

The Lukey muffler is smaller in size and weighs less and will sound a little different. I had mine replaced with the bolt-on AL5597 and is a relatively easy fit.
