Ive got my new speakers and soundproofing, just waiting on a new amp. The soundproofing Ive got is like the Dynamat stick-on sheets, but instead of a silver layer it has a black plastic layer on top, I couldnt tell the diff in sound between them so I got the cheaper black plastic one, $12 compared to $45/sqm.
Anyways its about 2mm thick and can bend to anything, I want to know if I should proof all the way to the top of the door, basically everywhere that there is trim I want to proof then put the trim back on. Does anyone know if the trim will go back on if I proof all the way up to where the window enters the door, or I should stop before it curves over at the top?
I am also putting a 250mmx250mm square behind the speaker to deaden any direct reflections, is this good idea?

if u cut it right to size... i dont c why it wont fit. i dont have my wreck here anymore so i cant remember wat the door looks like with the trim removed. if u really wanted, cut a strip and put it on the inside of the door trim where it folds over the door and try and put it back on. if it dosent fit, only soundproof it to where it will fit. i dont c why it would make too much difference if the WHOLE door isn't soundproofed. obviously for best results it is advised to soundproof the whole lot.
will the dynamat stuff be behind the speaker wen u soundproof the whole door? it would be a good idea to, otherwise everyone outside the car will still b hearing ur loud music which is sort of a waste of time wen u are trying to stop this. so yeah, get that dynamat stuff behind the speakers aswell as to keep ALL the sound in. if u do this, u dont need the extra 250mmx250mm square behind the speaker.

I think I will stay with just a 250x250 square, I dont really care about the sound outside the car, I just wanna cut out a bit of internal vibration noise from the doors. I dont see the point of sound proofing the outer panels totally because everyone is going to be able to hear the subs so they might aswell have some treble and midrange too. Cops are pretty good in Tassie aslong as it isnt deafening or too loud when everyone is asleep they dont seem to care.

oh ok. sorry i didnt totally understand wat u wanted. i thought u wanted to stop the sound from reaching outside the car. my bad.
if u dont want them to hear the subs, u can always sound deaden the boot aswell :D
it just means that u wont get attention to ur car by use of nice loud pumping music. but hey, thats why they made the turbo kit for the astron available
