A question for the people that have put the sound deadening mats in their doors..
You know the translucent skin that Mitsu put on the metal part of the door, that's stuck on with a ring of tar like stuff? I'm guessing that's a weather shield of some sort? Do people just rip that off when they deaden the doors? Do you put it back over the top when you're done? Does not having it there compromise the "water tightness" of the door?
So many questions... lol If no one knows what I'm talking about I'll post a pic up.. cheers!

As far as I know you just throw that plastic away, as the sound deadening should be waterproof anyway. Im not too sure about the foam stuff being totaly waterproof but the bitumen based stuff is. I cant see any reason why much, if any water should be getting on that side of the door anyway. Id just get rid of it as its a pain to work with without tearing.

that sheet of plastic is to stop dust gettin in , you rip that put and use ya sound dead to replace it , on gen threes you will have to place some sort or suport across to big whole for the deaden to cling to

The weathershield is just to stop water and dust reaching the inner door trim, the inside of the door is not waterproof which is why there are drain holes in the bottom for it to escape. I just removed it too, as I have covered the whole inner skin surface with Serenity Max.

Speaking of drain holes, Ive bored mine out and added another hole in each door.
I thought this was a good idea as the ones that were there were nearly blocked by scunge. I sealed off the exposed metal with some silver galv paint and installed thin rubber grommets.
Better safe than sorry when you're putting $100's of dollars into each door.

Hmmm... I did different to everyone else. I sound deadened with Brown Bread and put the plastic back over the top again after it was done. Probably unnecissary but again, better safe than sorry.

Do you wear your undies, then your pants, then another pair of undies on the outside?
