Hi Folks,
Anyone know do the 2005 VRX TW model use different valve lifters than the 2002 and 2003 models and do they have a tenancy to tick when hot but not when they are cold.
cheers Horse.

Not sure that there would be any difference in the p/n for the 2005 vs 2002, however a call to Mitsi would fix that, as for when they are noisy they will generally be noisy when the car first fires up if they are having trouble getting filled, however I do not believe temp should play any part in it.

eBay ad with Mitsu part number:

Two sorts, as far as I know - both the same but the later one above has a larger oil feed hole.

Hi all,
Thank you for your replies my TW with 80k has a tick (sounds like multiple ticks in varying time) at idle on a hot engine which to me doesn't sound like the clack of a lifter but more like loud injectors in fact a stethoscope over the injectors confirms that they are noisy little beasts.
I know this has been discussed in detail a million times on this forum,my old TS Verada never ticked ever and it had over 2200000k when I owned it.

Injectors can be ultrasonically cleaned. Alternatively, they can be replaced but that is rather expensive.

The Magna use the same lifter or lash adjuster from the First gen with hydraulic valve train all the way right through to the 380.

Tick can often be a blocked bleeder hole in the rocker arm, putting in new lash adjusters will not fix anything if the rocker train is not cleaned properly. In about 2001 Mits did change the design of the lash adjuster in so far as to how it was made, the ring which holds it together was changed to plastic and often cracks over the years thus when you remove them to bleed them they fall apart, all other specs in so far as length and diam remained unchanged
