Hey guys

So i got my keys to my magna stolen :( and i dont have a spare :(

But my problem is i have an aftermarket alarm (with remote start) on my car, i got the
auto locksmith to come but he couldn't get through the alarm immobiliser... (HE GAVE ME A KEY WITH NO TRANSPONDER THOUGH :) ).

So i took it to my mechanics shop (gf's dad) to get the aftermarket alarm removed so i can program the key ....

However i realised that inorder for my remote start feature to work... the chip from my spare key must have been tucked in and hidden somewhere ... (near the ignition barrel somewhere) so that it can trigger my factory alarm allowing to start the car ... (am i correct ?)

So that being said ... I shouldn't need a transponder in my key though should i ? ...

once the Aftermarket immobiliser is removed ...... I should be able to just turn the key and the car should start correct ? (no need to get the guy out to program the key again)

disclaimer: The key locks my doors and turns my ignition barrel all the way .... as well and the lights on the dash light up :) .... ( i bought the car from someone with the aftermarket alarm installed so its not like i can take it back bummer :( )

any advice will help

:nuts:11 minutes on good friday and you expect answers already

If you have remote start and this can operate without a key in the ignition then you must have another key hidden up under the dash in a spare antenna ring.

If this is the case I dont know why you have to remove the aftermarket immob if you can get a new remote for that?

Either way, you need the antenna which is plugged in to have a chipped key in it. WHen you got the new key cut I assume you went to start the car but was dead, in this case if you bypass the aftermarket immob only and not touch anything else in theory the car should start and run.

THese things can be often hard to work out on a forum especially when the current owner does not really know what the previous owner did to install things. Often will be a matter of getting the car looked at by someone who knows these cars so they know what they are looking at and what they need to do to bypass the set up

Have a look under the dash for the aftermarket unit, and find what make and model it is. Then hunt the internet for a wiring diagram.
This should give you some idea of how it was spliced into the car's electrics, and how to reverse the installation.

Good luck.

So i disabled the aftermarket alarm, and the car cranks but does not start ? ... does that mean its time i get someone to come and code my key to the car's immobiler ?

So i disabled the aftermarket alarm,

Bet the aftermarket immobiliser is still active. I did say "undo the installation", not just disable the alarm. lol
