Pretty much the handbrake of my tj works in reverse, but offers no resistance in forward gears, N and P.

Had a look under the centre console and everything checked out okay, can anyone offer some assistance? Thanks!

How many clicks does the handbrake lever come up by? Should be 5. Might just be a matter of adjustment.
Don't adjust at the centre console, adjust at the wheels.

So by doing nothing to the handbrake it has gotten worse seriously.

It does not work in forward gears and park, when applied in reverse the handbrake seizes and wont come undone until I move forward.
