Some key cutters can supply and cut a blank, then clone your original key to the new key.
Got one from Mitsu years ago, they supplied the blank key, but I had to find a key cutter, then get Mitsu to encode the key to the car. Much more convenient and cheaper to get it all done at the one place, but you may need to ring around first.

I got a quote recently of 130 from a locksmith for an ugly bulky clone, extra $40 bucks is nothing to get the right key

Hi Matt,
Head to Terry's Locksmith at West Burleigh (They're on Township Drive) Here's the link (http://www.tlslocks.com.au/contact-terrys-locksmith-services.php) to their website.
I got a new key cut and programmed to my car for $99 in January (may be a couple of $$ more now?). It's not a genuine Mitsubishi one but it's good enough. Genuine Mitsubishi key is heaps more.
They'll even give you a card with the key number on it for future reference. :)
Hope that helps.
AWD Jr.

Got a quote from Mitsubishi here in town - $250. They did break that price down for me... it was $200 for the key and $50 to program it? That or the other way around.
Everything in my town is subject to a 400% miners tax though as every business assumes you're earning 100k+ pa.

if its the standard black key, its $80 from mits and comes as a blank key.will then need to be cut and programed as already mentioned
mits have plenty in stock
cutting is $30-50 approx
coding can be up to $88(well where i work anyway
also they can cut one to the vin i was told by a workmate, but has never been asked for

Might have to hit you up on that one in the near future Mal. Can you get the ball rolling with a vin# or you want the key?

Car and keys need to be programmed together. Take your VIN to a mitsu dealer and they will order the key (VIN only defines the cut), but they will need to see you and the car when the key arrives to mate them together. Or as per previous posts, find a locksmith with the key, cutting skills and cloning device.
Question: I am about to get a spare key cut for my new Pajero. I have been told that I must bring both the existing keys along to the Mits dealer, and get the whole lot programmed together. OK - I can see that when they start programming the car to accept the keys, I imagine that the car's memory of the old keys is erased and any keys not done then will not be recognised. Yet I read about Mr Minit or similar being able to clone a key. If this is so, how can the car recognise it? If it is an identical clone, the car won't know which key it is, nor will it care.
I guess what I am asking is - Does the key get the car details written into it, or does the car get the key details written into its memory?

I have recently and very randomly become a member of the Magna club again (been a couple years since I sold off my Ralliart!) with a good deal on a TL VR LE
Only one key though...any other Adelaidians found any good key deals? Best price I have found so far is from Alchin locksmiths (interestingly, Portside Mitsubishi referred me to these guys)...$120 supplied, cut and programmed. Agostino Mitsubishi wanted over $200...
I guess the days of getting ~$80 keys directly from Tonsley Park are well and truly over (and obviously so). :(
