looking to sell my 1998 Tf magna 5pd manual blue, just looking to see how much i can get.
Rego til 28th of november
Starts but doesnt run () car will start and rev but once put into gear will not move anywhere and idles around 100rpm and cooling fans turn on) good for someone who knows what their doing
just had 1500 spent to replace timing belt, water pump, water pipe and starter motor, also replaced plugs, leads, fuel filter, MAF sensor.
Has a pioneer head unit
lowered with mags
Love this car but am just over spending money on it and would rather just buy a new car, been told the problem might be my TPS, or throttle body, also engine light is on since it just started doing this.
Great car for a young guy to fix up and get running already lowered, got mags that suit the car just needs fixing and the hood sprayed or replaced as atm it only has primer on
HOW MUCH CAN I GET FOR THIS???
otherwise im handing in plates and gonna to try sell for like 500

I'd say you're probably going to struggle to get $500 for it as it is currently. I paid less than that for a good condition TF that only needed a new clutch.
Sounds like you may have a gearbox problem, since it has problems in drive. I doubt it'd be the TPS because I would've thought whether the car would be in gear or not would seldom make a difference to the sensor.
If the former, may be as simple as a solenoid replacement, or as complex as a needing a new gearbox.
In full running condition, somewhere towards $1500 is likely but in it's current condition you'll easily see one zero less than that.
Since you've spent that much money on the engine basically giving it new life for anouther 100,000km, and if nothing else is seriously wrong with the car, then why not investigate the problem and see if you can rectify it. You won't buy a decent TF magna for 1k anyway and you'd be loosing 1000's just junking it.
Even if you need to replace the gearbox, you can get them for a few 100's at your local wreckers, some with a few month warranty. It is DIYable if you have a bit of know-how with cars.

+1
A TF that doesn't run, to the normal Gumtree buyer, will be worth little more than scrap, regardless of what maintenance has been done or what gearbox it has.
Find the fault and fix it, spend upto what your current asking price is. If you fix it, great - you could double your asking price at least.
If you still can't fix it, offload it and get what you spent trying to fix it back.

... also i got a guy to use a scan tool and it wouldnt read the computer
re the scan tool not showing anything but CEL is on, I've added a comment to the original thread (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99809) about showing ECU codes via the "flashing lights" method.

when exactly does it stall if its a manual putting it in gear shouldn't do anything at all if it starts and idles .. does it rev ?? have you tried taking off in second ... maybe try a power down for half hour (disconnect the battery) then reconnect start the car let it hunt and idle for a few minutes till it settles .. if its starting and revving it may just need the idle reset
also if u need any parts just ask i have a few spares and im local

ive tried moving it in all gears will not move, it revs fine but just idles down at like 100rpm and once revved up then let it drop back down it will stall but it started and let idle then it will not stall until rev and then letting them drop and ive disconnected the battery and done it started the car still ran the same and engine light still on

Sounds like a good car that needs some TLC, how much exactly do you want it for and also have you posted it on Gumtree yet?

yeah TLC it does was sitting in my front yard for about 6 months not being started as it was my brothers but then i began starting it everyday and got it rego'd then this happened after i spent around 2k putting new parts in to get it going good and cant spend anymore money on it, im looking for idk maybe 4-5 as its a great car to drive when running good it justs needs somebody who knows what there doing and it could be a very cheap fix

Sounds like you have 2 problems.
ISC not working.
Clutch worn out.
Not worth much in this condition. a "failed project" car is rarely worth the new parts someone has put into it. Check out what Magnas you can get for $4K to $5K and you will be surprised.

i meant 4-5 hundred not thousand and what is the ISC? and what does is do? also yeah im pretty sure my clutch needed fixing or replacing as you would have to let the pedal out almost all the way before it catches and starts going
